A Finish: Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost

I designed this quilt solely with the intent of entering Quiltcon. I did enter two other quilts too (Scallops and Arlecchino) but this one was the only one with that agenda from the start. Each square - or almost sorta squareish shape - is 1/2", so there's as much in the seam allowances as on the top. It's got a fusible backing to hold it together so I could sew rows all together at once, so this thing is THICK!I quilted it with silver metallic rayon, which unfortunately did keep breaking. It's 12 wt so super visible, but every needle I had seemed to have a burr in it and cut the thread. I found it behaved itself better when I put the old worn original needle back in and went slow.If you're wondering about inspiration - it's the Nintendo (NES) end screen ;)This is a Finish Along Finish!STATSSize – 30 1/2" x 25 1/2"Number of blocks – I pieced these 100-ish at a time, so in that sense, there are 30 and a few extra bits.Time to make – So, so long, maybe 35-40 hours?Fabric – Whatever black I could find. There's solid, a Bernatex tone on tone dot, a text print from Sweetwater's Mama Said Sew, fans rom the original Downton Abbey collection, Sketch...Binding Fabric – It's faced, but I used a Blueberry Park black printBacking Fabric – Half the same Blueberry Park, and half a black and white grid. I ran out of any kind of yardage by this point.Threads – Pieced with 50wt Aurifil, quilted with Wonderfil XXXXBatting – Hobbs 80/20 scrapQuilting- Straight lines, 5 squares (or 2 1/2") apart.
