Parquetry - complete!

I know how much you all love the colour brown, so earlier in the year at the Uttoxeter show when Ange, Susan, Reene and Katy were making rude remarks about the largely brown traditional quilts, I decided to be subversive and declared I would make a contemporary brown quilt (sorry I still disagree with the use of the word Modern, as I believe we are technically in the Postmodern movement now). The idea was that they would actually change their minds about brown, however I think they're stuck in their stubborn ways still :P Never mind, here is my finished quilt, Parquetry. It's already been commissioned for a national magazine for next Autumn so nerrrr. The quilting is FMQ and it was completely inspired by a conversation with Shevvy at the last East Mids meeting.STATSSize – Lap quilt - 38" x 51"Number of blocks –120 ish 3" squares on point, plus setting trianglesTime to piece – About 6 hours I thinkTime to quilt – 3 1/2 hours approx (home machine)Fabric – A mixture- Michael Miller neon highlights plus some Joel Dewberry, Denyse Schmidt, Jenean Morrison, Alison Glass...Backing Fabric – Half a single duvet cover off eBayBinding Fabric – Sketch style print, machine boundThreads – Aurifil 50wt really white, not sure of the number, all the way through.Batting – Black Hobbs Heirloom 80/20Quilting- Flower FMQ design- a round centre with two or more rounds of wavy petal shapesThat's the first goal completed for the Finish Along this quarter!
